Preliminary works start on crucial trans-Madrid rail tunnel

On 13.04.2010 excavation work began on an auxiliary exit in calle Espalter for the 6.9 km-long tunnel across Madrid between the Atocha and Chamartin stations to connect the lines of the national high speed rail system. The main tunnel will be driven north-south starting June, 2010 by an 11.5 m-diameter TBM that is already under assembly at Chamartin. For more click here, here and es/150. 16/10.
