On the 14.06.2016 tunneling contractor JCM re-launched TBM1 from the U District Station site to the University of Washington Station. The TBM has been refurbished after finishing the northbound tunnel between the University of Washington Station and the north portal in the Maple Leaf neighborhood. The TBM is expected to enter the ground below the UW campus in the next few weeks. It should complete its journey to a retrieval shaft just north of the University of Washington Station in the Autumn of 2016. JCM is also excavating the cross-passages or emergency exits between the tunnels. The Northgate Link extension is scheduled to be complete in 2021. Click here and us/42 for tunnelbuilder archive.
