ES Rubber to supply Israel high speed tunnelsThe Tel Aviv-Jerusalem high speed railway tunnel project will be built by two joint venture contractors. One comprises Pizzarotti of Italy with Shapir of Israel, and the second puts Mos Metrostroy of Russia together with Minrav of Israel. The twin tunnels are each 14 km-long, requiring a total of approximately 28 km of segmental lining. The concrete segments will be equipped with rubber gaskets supplied by Ein Shemer Rubber Industries.The chosen ES Rubber TunnelFlex 33 Plus gasket fulfils the long-term requirements of external water pressure, which can reach up to 5 bar. It is designed and manufactured by ES in accordance with STUVA recommendations. Tunnel excavation will commence during the last quarter of 2011.
