Atlas Copco's First Swedish-designed LHD Ready for Roll-out in 2006 Atlas Copco's first generation of load-haul-dump vehicles designed and built in Sweden, is scheduled to make its debut in 2006 and promises to set new standards in safety, performance, operator comfort, and reliability.Scooptram ST14, a 14-tonne capacity loader, incorporates several new and improved features, developed according to operators' and regulatory requirements around the world. The ST14 has a number of features which result in unparalleled loading and tramming performance. The tractive effort is exceptional thanks to the use of a load sensing hydraulic system and superior power-to-weight ratio. The improved boom and bogie geometry optimizes machine breakout resulting in excellent bucket filling performance. Since the cabin does not extend beyond the side of the vehicle, ST14 is easy to manoeuvre. The ST14 displays a range of improvements that focuses on the operator's environment and wellbeing. The cab is ergonomically designed with an air-suspended seat and the controls are located in the arm rests. The extended wheel base makes tramming stable, fast and comfortable. Enlarged window area gives better visibility. The sound level within the cabin is below 80 dB(A) and vibration levels have been reduced. The spacious Atlas Copco foot box also makes the driving experience much more comfortable. The well proven Atlas Copco Control system, first introduced for underground drill rigs, contributes to enhanced reliability and availability. Logging of vehicle data provides information for well planned preventive maintenance. Service screens, event and error logs shown on the display simplify trouble shooting. Engine and transverter diagnostics are displayed on the screen and instead of just codes there are clear text messages for engine and transmission logs. The number of electrical connection points has been reduced by two thirds which minimizes the risk for errors and simplifies trouble-shooting. An added benefit is that the Scooptram ST14 is prepared for Radio Remote Control as well as for mining automation systems. Visit www.atlascopco.com 52/05-01/06.
