Amsterdam-Almere metro feasibility studiesThree selected consortia have completed technical and economic feasibility studies for the prposed direct metro link between Amsterdam and Almere across the IJmeer. The M55 consortium (Mott MacDonald/MNO Vervat/Baca Architects) developed a EUR3.2 billion proposal for a 20 km extension of the metro with five stations (two underground) from Diemen-Zuid to IJburg with a 9 km immersed tunnel under the IJmeer to Almere City; Jacobs, APPM/Posad proposed a EUR2.6 billion solution with four cable-stayed bridges; Movares chose a EUR2.5 billion project for a phased extension of the metro and a crossing of the IJmeer on an arched bridge.
