Thames tunnels to be bored by Herrenknecht TBMsHochtief/Murphy JV will use two Herrenknecht slurry TBMs to drive the 2 x 2.6 km-long x 6 m-diameter Crossrail Thames tunnels. This brings to eight the number of Herrenknecht TBMs to be used for Crossrail's ten twin drives totalling 21 km, and represents a project clean sweep for the manufacturer.
