New Concept in Lighting Control from MayerMayer International (UK) Ltd has introduced an advanced new concept in automated light switching technology for road tunnels. Known as System-1600, it comprises a fully integrated control unit designed specifically for pre-settable automated on/off stage switching control of road tunnel threshold luminaires, to comply with CIE standards. Up to eight stages adjust the lighting intensity as daylight changes, removing any black holes for drivers approaching the tunnel. Hardwire or radio connections are available to connect photometers and controller, which can be pre-programmed using visual prompts. All operating parameters, together with cumulative 'lit' hours for each individual section of luminaires, are stored in a non-volatile memory, from which hard copies can be printed, or transmitted remotely to save traffic lane closures. The Mayer System-1600 is currently being installed into numerous major tunnels worldwide.
