International section of Lyon-Turin approvedOn 03.08.2011 Cipe approved the preliminary design of the common French-Italian section of the Lyon-Turin railway system with construction in two tranches. The first tranche comprises construction of the 57.1 km-long twin-tube base tunnel, together with Saint Jean de Maurienne and Susa stations. The second phase comprises the 19.2 km-long Orsiera tunnel. Italy and France have agreed that costs be split 63/37. Design will start next month. For more click here and here.
