Great challenge for a Tunnel Fire Protected with Fire Barrier 135In two weeks time, a fire resistance system has been installed over a frost-free drainage complex in the entrance of Maurice Lemaire tunnel. Fire barrier 135 refractory mortar, supplied by Innovative Fire Systems, has been again selected as the product which can be sprayed on sprayed concrete and gives a perfect finish over a rough and irregular surface. Fire barrier 135 has been sprayed on top of a false wall serving as drainage complex in the east entrance of tunnel Maurice Lemaire. A three centimetre of FIRE BARRIER 1353 has been installed on top of a 8 cm sprayed concrete to ensure a N3 fire resistance. The challenge was to complete the job in two weeks time, leaving the traffic crossing the tunnel during the operations. 25 persons have worked nights and days to complete this challenge and have offered the tunnel general contractor time savings.In addition of this new operations, Fire Barrier 135 will insulate the electrical chamber with led in shafts of 75 mm thickness from the effects of fire and the heat, in Le chat (Chambery) ; la baume et mirabeau, l'épine sud knowing that this system has been already installed in both Lioran and montjezieux, la Crete, sinard tunnels this year 2007. http://www.innovativefiresystems.com/eng/dowloads.htmIn Lioran tunnel, Innovative Fire Systems will install a temporary fire protection system inside the tunnel to run two following real fire tests. French directive impose now to test the extraction systems before the opening, IFS has proposed refractory blanket to protect walls, roof and asphalt floor, of the heat generated by old cars burning. With this first success, the same system will be installed in Paris A86 motorway soon before end of 2007, more than twenty tunnels will be treated in Europe with Fire Barrier 135, making it the most widely installed system.
