Frejus safety tunnel fully underwayOn 30.11.2010 construction commenced at the Italian end of the Frejus safety tunnel under a contract with the consortium Itinera SpA/Razel SAS/Mattioda Pierino & Figli SpA. The event coincides with the 50th anniversary of Sitaf SpA, the concessionaire of the Frejus motorway, and the 30th anniversary of the Frejus tunnel itself. The safety tunnel, with a total length of 12.878 km and diameter of 8 m, will be equipped with five bypasses, 34 refuges, 8 technical stations and 2 ventilation houses.
