Albertia tunnels excavated using NATMOn 29.07.2011 breakthrough was achieved in the bi-tube railway tunnel Albertia (4,777 m, 4,786 m) on the Legutiano-Escoriatza section of the Vitoria/Gasteiz-Bilbao-Donostia/San Sebastian high-speed line. The tunnels are 57 sq m section and were driven using NATM, with a crosscut every 400 m. The construction contracts were awarded in 2007 in two lots: the JV Comsa/Cycasa secured a 5.5 km section including the first 2.7 km of tunnel; while the JV Ferrovial Agroman/Fonorte secured the 2.4 km section including the final 2.1 km of tunnel.
