Metro Line E

1.25 km double-track tunnel to new workshop being built by Metrovías between Plaza de los Virreyes station on Line E and crossroads between Lacarra street and the Perito Moreno highway. 46/01.The Secretariate for Transportation has extended to 26th April, 2006 the deadline to enable the contractors who prequalified in the tender for the construction of the Line E extension of the Buenos Aires metro to update their accounting and legal documentation, to then move forward to the stage of submission of financial bids. Tenders were invited before the 2001 recession so that the process must be adjusted to the new economic situation of the country. On 21st March, 2006 the Secretariate for Transportation requested from the contractors and consortia technically prequalified an update of the documents they submitted in May 2001.The prequalified contractors and consortia are a JV of Techint, Benito Roggio, Sade and Skanska and a JV of Gualtieri, José Cartellone, Dycasa and Dragados.The civil works required for the extension of Line E will connect the existing Bolivar station with Retiro, running under Rivadavia and Leandro N. Alem avenues, adding 2,300 metres to the 9,986 m-long line in service today. The section will serve three new stations (Correo Central, Catalinas and Retiro). The contract was signed on 16th February, 2007. The extended line will link up the existing Bolivar station with a new terminus station in Retiro. The new section will run beneath Rivadavia and Leandro N. Alem avenues, adding 2.3 km to the existing 10 kilometres of line. A depot and three stations (Correo Central, Catalinas, and Retiro) are also part of the contract. The tunnel will cross five main obstacles: Line B, Line C, a 2.8 m-diameter wastewater sewer, a rainwater sewer under San Martin street and, in Retiro, the Onabe building. Aguas Argentinas has engaged Brown & Root to provide technical, cost and programme services for design and construction of an 8 km-long, 3.3 m-diameter sewer tunnel on the eastern border of the city and an optional 7 km-long sea outfall tunnel into the 40 km wide River Plate between Argentina and Uruguay. 15 km-long, 3.5 m-diameter Saavedra-Moron tunnel reaching completion by Wayss & Freytag/Sollazo Hnos for Aguas Argentinas using Herrenknecht EPB. Safege Montgomery Watson are client's engineer. Tunnelling conditions post-evaluation study carried out by team chaired by Mike Kobler of Underground Construction Managers and including Alastair Biggart of Hatch Mott MacDonald and Gary Brierley of Brierley Associates. The tunnel comprises four drives of 3.56 km, 4.2 km, 3.7 km, and 3.8 km at depth 35 m from five shafts. Ground conditions were variable, ranging from quicksands under 2.5 bar pressure, through green sandy clays to hard consolidated silts with calcareous nodules. Soil conditioning using bentonite or foam, or both. The two Herrenknecht 4.3 m-diameter EPBs averaged 20 x 1.2 m-wide gasketed rings/day with a best performance of 35 rings. The city is negotiating to borrow up to $1.5 billion for an ambitious scheme to extend the 36.5 km metro by 50 km by 2010. June 2000. Bidders for Line A extension between Primera Junta and Flores are Benito Roggio; Techint; José Cartellone; Dycasa; Obrascí³n; CCI Construcciones; IEcsa and SADE-Skanska. 3.2 km tunnel and four stations at Puí¡n, Carabobo, Plaza Flores and Nazca with time frame of 36 months to cost US$80 million. The groups are: Benito Roggio e Hijos; José Cartellone; Dycasa; Skanska; and Techint. Line A, which was inaugurated in 1913 and was Latin America's first metro, has 14 stations and runs 7.13 km. The extension will run from the current southern terminus in Primera Junta through four stations in Puan, Carabobo, Flores and Nazca. Work is expected to begin by mid-2004 and finish in 2007. 50/03.Dycasa is the lowest bidder to build Line A extension from Primera Junta to Nazca, with a budget of USD95.2 million. The Ps71,188,471 low bid, below the official estimate, has been submitted by Jose Cartellone. Dycasa offered Ps86,342,428 and Benito Roggio Ps87,700,550. Techint proposed Ps92,148,448 while Skanska is the highest bidder with Ps99,342,428. The financial bids will now be assessed prior to the contract award, which will also take into account the technical bids. This will be the second section of Line H. The first section, which construction is under way by Dycasa, includes five stations from Once to Caseros. Line H spans 11.4 km from the south to downtown and will serve a total of 16 stations. "North-South Road Corridor Investment Program" is a major infrastructure project which aims at connecting the Southern border of the country with its Northern point by means of 556km-long Meghri-Yerevan-Bavra highway of high international standards, reducing it up to about 90km and upgrading it up to 470km. Debed Hydro LLC, a subsidiary of Energy Invest Holding CJSC, has awarded Poyry with the engineering services and consultancy services assignment for the feasibility study for the 76 MW Shnogh Hydroelectric Project in the Republic of Armenia. Poyry will review the existing documents, which will be made available by Debed Hydro LLC, and will undertake the following studies: Meteorology, Hydrology & Sedimentology; Topography; Geology & Engineering Geology; Analysis and Interpretation of additional Geotechnical Field Investigations; Construction Materials Studies; Water Resources Planning & Reservoir and Plant Operation Studies; Environmental & Social Screening; and Seismicity.

Poyry will provide reports on Hydraulic Design of the Alternatives; Feasibility Design of the Selected Alternatives; Construction Schedule; BoQ & Cost Estimate; and Economic Evaluation.

The Feasibility Study is planned to be completed by June 2018.
