On 23.09.2009 Singapore's Land Transport Authority (LTA) awarded to Alpine Bau GmbH (Singapore Branch) the last two contracts of the 10 major civil contracts for the 16.6 km DTL2 with 12 stations and one depot. Contract C917, value EUR156 million, for design and construction of 1.8 km section Sixth Avenue-King Albert Park, including a twin-tube tunnel to be built by TBM and the two 123 m-long stations. Contract C918, value EUR170.3 million, for design and construction of 2.2 km section, including a twin tube tunnel (920 m) to be built with two EPB slurry TBMs, the Tan Kah Kee station (234 m), a cut and cover section (445 m) and a twin tube tunnel (560 m) to be built with an EPB. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded to CMC (Ravenna) two civil contracts, C926 and C927 with a total value of EUR250 million (S$423.38 million), for the Downtown Line Stage 3 (DTL3) project in Singapore. The contracts are for the construction of 2.8 km and 1.4 km twin-tube tunnels, including underground stations at Tampines West and Bedok Reservoir. Six TBMs will be used, with completion 2017. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded the final three civil contracts for the Downtown Line Stage 3 (DTL3) project in Singapore. The contracts are for the construction of twin-tube tunnels between Tampines East and Upper Changi (Shanghai Tunnel Engineering, value EUR52.4 million) and underground stations at Upper Changi (Samsung C&T, value EUR147.7 million) and Bendemeer (Penta Ocean, value EUR123.7 million). McConnell Dowell South East Asia Pte Ltd has completed tunnelling on Downtown Metro Line 2 Contract 916 Beauty World for the Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA), valued at approximately EUR170 million. Two 6.64 m-diameter TBMs progressed in a variety of ground conditions ranging from 200 Mpa unweathered granites to soil, with plenty of mixed face in between. The Land Transport Authority has appointed McConnell Dowell South East Asia (SEA) Pvt Ltd and SK E&C (Singapore) to complete construction works for three Downtown Line 2 (DTL2) stations following the insolvency of Alpine Bau GmbH, the earlier contractor. McConnell Dowell (SEA) will complete the construction of Sixth Avenue and King Albert Park stations and associated tunnels for a contract sum of approximately EUR150 million (SGD254 million), while SK E&C (Singapore) will complete the construction of Tan Kah Kee station and associated tunnels for EUR131 million (SGD222 million). Read E-News Weekly 35/2006 & 17/2006. 41/06.JTC Corporation (JTC) has appointed an engineering consortium, Geostock-Jurong Consultants, to undertake the basic engineering design and manage the construction of the underground tunnels and associated facilities of Phase 1 of Jurong rock cavern. The successful tender price is SD18,942,000.Based in France, Geostock is an expert in providing technical know-how in engineering and construction services for underground oil storage facilities. Geostock will carry out the basicdesign of the underground tunnels/caverns, the system design of the entire storage facilities and the underground piping facilities. Jurong Consultants will provide consultancy services on the basic design for the aboveground facilities. In addition to working on the basic engineering design, the consortium will prepare, call and evaluate the tender for the appointment of contractor for the detailed design and construction of the underground tunnels/caverns and the associated facilities, and provide contract management and supervision services for the detailed design and construction contract.Geostock is also JTC's appointed consultant for the basic engineering design of the access shafts and start-up galleries. Over the next few months, JTC will be calling a Request for Proposals (RFP) for an operator to run Phase 1 of the Jurong rock cavern. Results of this RFP are scheduled to be announced in the last quarter of 2007. In that same quarter, JTC also targets to appoint the contractor for the detailed design and construction of the underground tunnels/caverns with associated facilities for Phase 1.   Together these two expressways will be 12 km in length with 9 km underground. Construction due to commence 2001 for completion of Kallang in 2005 and Paya Lebar in 2006. Fifteen companies have prequalified to tender for four contracts with a value US$500 million. Contract 421 is for design and construction of a tunnel from East Coast Parkway to Nicoll Highway crossing the Geylang river; contract 422 is for a tunnel from Nicoll Highway to Pan Island Expressway; contract 423 is for a tunnel from Pan Island Expressway to Paya Lebar Road crossing Pelton Canal; contract 424 is for a tunnel and depressed road with surface road from Paya Lebar Road to just north of the Bartley Road extension.
