RNVL is implementing the 125.09 km-long rail project in the Garhwal region in Uttarakhand with a preliminary cost of EUR530 million. The rail project passes through Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri and Chamoli districts with main railway stations located at Rishikesh, Karnprayag, Srinagar, Rudraprayag and Devprayag. A total of 128 bridges and 81 tunnels is planned.Preliminary alignment for Rishikesh-Karanprayag section has been finalized by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a PSU under the Ministry of Railways. Geophysical studies and geological mapping, staking the alignment with concrete pillars, processes for land requirement for yards, tunnel portals, bridge locations, and submission of proposals to State authorities for forest clearance and land acquisition have been taken up.
