A ceremony was held for the breakthrough of Line 3 of Riyadh's Metro, it is the longest part of the network at 40.7 km. The line runs from the west near the Jeddah Expressway and ends in the east near the National Guard Camp of Khashm El Aam. There are a total of 22 stations on the network. During the first phase the trains will have a maximum length of 36.7 m (2 carriages), capacity for 262 passengers and a maximum speed of 80 km/h. The stations are built to be able to contain trains with 4 carriages ready for the second phase.
On 09.11.2015 the NFM TBM named Jazlah (diameter 10 m, weight 700 tons) entered the second underground station (3F1). Since it began it has excavated up to 27 m/day. The tunnel that Jazlah is digging measures 5.8 km in length, and is located under Riyadh's town centre, and will cross Riyadh's main train station.
