Atlas Copco Puts Productivity on Display at Bauma 2007

12/03/2007
Atlas Copco Puts Productivity on Display at Bauma 2007 As in previous years, Atlas Copco's drill rigs will play a central role at the show. For underground drilling, Atlas Copco will showcase its Rocket Boomer XE3. The Rocket Boomer XE3 is the first face drilling rig in the new Atlas Copco E Series with raisable boom console, enabling coverage of tunnel cross sections up to 206 square metres from a single set-up. The heavy-duty, BUT 45 booms offer excellent stability and faster, more accurate hole positioning. A new rod handling system (RHS) will be offered as an option for the mechanized handling of drill rods or self-drilling anchors. The rig can be offered with various high-performance COP rock drills. Click here. Visit www.boomer-rig.comA variety of rock drilling tools for different applications will be on display, among them the Secoroc Magnum SR system and the new Epsilon range of rotary bits. Magnum SR is a universal tool for drifting and tunnelling and the extended range now meets all of the tough demands of underground drilling for blasting, bolting, grouting and reaming. Click here. Visit www.cmt.atlascopco.com/secoroc Atlas Copco's Rocket Boomer XE3 Atlas Copco's commitment toward safer and more productive solutions in ground engineering and rock reinforcement will also be on display. Following its high-tech rock bolts Swellex and MAI self-drilling anchors, Atlas Copco will launch a new bolt concept designed to maintain continuous, high load capacity during the process of rock deformation. An innovative, patented control mechanism allows the bolt length to adapt to the movement of the rock, absorbing the energy and allowing the bolt to keep the rock in place. Click here. Visit www.swellex.com and www.rockreinforcement.comThis new bolt concept is ideal for difficult underground excavation work such as in deep mines or for tunnelling in squeezing ground since all parameters such as loading and displacement can be pre-set during manufacture to suit the prevailing conditions. For decades, the ODEX casing drilling system has been an industry standard. Now Atlas Copco has launched its third generation. On show will be the ODEX GE, designed for both shallow well casing and micro-piling in unstable ground conditions. The new design eliminates the thread on the pilot bit and incorporates a reamer with greater swing angle. As a result, ODEX GE drills faster, is easier to use and is more reliable which increases productivity and reduces drilling costs. The latest milestone in Atlas Copco's efforts to improve efficiency and quality in grouting operations is the new LOGAC G5 monitoring unit with an alpha-numerical display. The new unit is more robust and user-friendly and enables the grouting parameter of each grouting hole to be easily tracked and checked, improving the quality of the operation and overall worksite efficiency. The unit is based on the same CAN-BUS platform as used in all Atlas Copco PC-controlled drill rigs which means that LOGAC G5 can be interfaced with all modern Atlas Copco drilling rigs and their measure-while-drilling functions. The outdoor Atlas Copco display (Stand No 807 A/2) will cover an area of 1,210 square metres, that's 130 sq m larger than the company's previous presentation in 2004. Hereafter, a quick guide to the products that will be on display: Construction Tools (TEX handheld breakers; BBD, RH and BBC light rock drills; LP, LH, and LCD hand-held hydraulic breakers; Cobra motor breakers; SB, PB, MB and HB hydraulic breakers; and CC, DP, BP and MG breakers), Air compressors and generators (XAS, XAH, XAHS; XRVS 606 and XRXS 566 portable compressors; and QAX and QAS generators); Geotechnical Drilling Equipment (new rock bolt concept; ODEX G3 casing drilling system; LOGAC G5 monitoring unit; Diamec diamond drilling equipment; Unigrout automatic grouting unit; Rotex ground reinforcement equipment); Rock Drilling Tools: top hammer equipment (ThunderRod T60; COPROD; and Magnum SR); DTH equipment (QL300 plus COP 32 hammers; RC50 hammer plus bits; TD40 hammer plus bit; TD 50 or COP 54 Gold Express; Premium Plus DTH-bits; and HDD/MBHT bit); rotary equipment (tricone bits including new Epsilon-bit type and rotary pipes and accessories); grinding equipment (Grindmatic Jazz); Underground Rock Excavation (Rocket Boomer XE 3 face drilling rig); and Surface Drilling Equipment (SmartRig ROC D7C surface drill rig and ROC L830 surface drill rig).
