Scope of Works
The contract concerns the maintenance of installations and civil engineering structures at the following locations:

- Pendant Avalanche Gallery, RD 1506 (km 8+273 – 8+724), Chamonix-Mont-Blanc;
- Sommand Gallery, RD 308 (km 9+600 – 9+900), Mieussy.
The works include routine and preventive maintenance of electromechanical systems, structural elements, drainage, and safety installations associated with tunnel and avalanche protection infrastructure.
Tunnel Details
1. Montets Tunnel
- Location: Vallorcine / Chamonix
- Line: Saint-Gervais – Vallorcine railway
- Length: 1,882 m
- Type: Bi-modal tunnel (rail and road traffic)
The Montets Tunnel operates as a dual-use facility, carrying railway services and, during winter closures of the Col des Montets pass, controlled road traffic.
Maintenance elements include:
- Automation and signalling systems managing alternating train and vehicle traffic;
- Ventilation systems for smoke extraction;
- Fire detection installations;
- Safety niches and associated equipment.
Due to its strategic role in maintaining winter access to the Chamonix valley, maintenance interventions are typically scheduled during off-peak periods.
2. Pendant Avalanche Gallery
- Location: RD 1506, km 8+273 – 8+724, Chamonix-Mont-Blanc
- Type: Avalanche and rockfall protection gallery
The structure provides protective cover to the departmental road against snow slides and rockfalls.
Maintenance elements include:
- Structural reinforcement works;
- Waterproofing measures;
- Inspection and repair of concrete arches;
- Cleaning and rehabilitation of drainage systems;
- Upgrading or replacement of internal lighting systems.
3. Sommand Gallery
- Location: RD 308, km 9+600 – 9+900, Mieussy
- Type: Avalanche and rockfall protection gallery
This gallery provides access to the Sommand ski area and is located in a mountainous environment subject to erosion and snow accumulation.
Maintenance elements include:
- Inspection and maintenance of rockfall protection systems (nets and anchors);
- Repair of roof slab and apron sections to ensure resistance to falling debris;
- Civil engineering maintenance of structural components.
Traffic management measures, including alternating traffic arrangements or temporary closures, may be required during maintenance operations.
