Request for expression of interest, deadline 14/01/2022, for a consultancy service to perform a feasibility study of the Prawash - Jorte Road Tunnel in Bartung -Tansen - Ridi - Wamitaksar - Kharwang NH49, in mid-western Nepal. How will the construction of the Prawash - Jorte Road Tunnel, directly and indirectly effect and positively influence the districts of Palpa, Gulmi, Syangja, Baglung, districts. Will it also help in enhancing the tourism sector in these areas?

The approximate entry point and exit coordinate of the proposed tunnel are 27°50'31" N, 83°32'24" E and 27°53'60" N, 83°28'36" E. The construction of road tunnel reduces the tentative length of the road by up to 15 Km and hence reduces the travel time making travel safe in a geographically steep terrain. The tunnel will be constructed under the DB or EPC Contract Model. The assignment has been scheduled for a period of 6 months. Expected date of commencement of the assignment is 02-03-2022. Invitation for bids from the Nepal Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Department of Roads (DoR), deadline 10.10.2018, for the construction of the 2.69-km-long Nagdhunga to Naubise tunnel project. The contract includes the construction and completion of a road-tunnel (2.688km long, 2 lanes each of 3.5m, a median 1.5m wide, shoulders 0.5m wide at both sides for drainage facilities, total carriage way of 9.5m width), Eastern and Western approach roads, 1 intersection and 1 interchange on Tribhuvan highway, 7 bridges and 11 box-culverts, toll-gate facilities, traffic monitoring/control and maintenance office buildings, disposal area development, transmission line, and others. At present, the Nagdhunga-Naubise section of the Tribhuvan Highway is highly congested as Nagdhunga is the main entry and exit point of the Capital. The tunnel road project will shorten the 14-km distance of the section to 2.69 km after completion of the tunnel. The Hazama Ando Corporation of Japan has been contracted for the construction of 2.69 km Nagdhunga-Naubise Tunnel project. Hydro

COVEC, the China Overseas Engineering Group, has been awarded the EUR94.41 million Bheri Babai Diversion Multipurpose Project (BBDMP) by Nepal’s Ministry of Water and Irrigation. During the dry season the Bheri River flows at a speed of 79 cu m/sec. Irrigation of some 60,000 hectares of the Banke and Bardia regions will be possible by diverting water from the Bheri to the Babai. The project will also produce 480GWH/year of electricity from a hydro station which will require TBM construction of a 12 km-long water tunnel of 5 m-diameter and 4.2 m inside diameter. The TBM system requires a power supply of 4 MW using a diesel plant. The project is scheduled to be completed in four years. Geodata was awarded the Construction Supervision of the 12km-long headrace tunnel of the Bheri Babai Multipurpose Project. Advances to date: main tunnel 2,569 m of 7,848 m; tailrace 1,349 m of 2,986 m; adits complete at 1,475 m; tunnels within powerhouse 2,609 m of 3,003 m; other small tunnels not started 650 m. Kathmandu-Hetauda road

Government of Nepal has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Nepal Purbadhar Bikas Company NPBC for construction of the Kathmandu-Kulekhani-Hetauda road, financed as a PPP venture. The 48 km-long four-lane highway, which includes a 3 km-long tunnel between Bhimphedi and Kulekhani, will be designed and constructed over a period of four years at a cost of EUR285 million.
