This tender covers the design and build contract for the construction of the Nordhavntunnel.

The Nordhavnstunnel is a road tunnel containing a dual carriageway with two lanes in each direction, extending the existing Nordhavnsvej out to Nordhavn.

The Nordhavnstunnel starts at the end of the Nordhavnsvej tunnel at Strandvænget in Østerbro, crosses the Svanemøllehavnen harbour and the Kalkbrænderiløb, arriving in Nordhavn, where two ramps join the tunnel to the local road network at a new extension of Kattegatvej. The tunnel continues past the ramps into a blind tunnel as a preparation for Østlig Ringvej, which is a future tunnel extension to Lynetteholm.

This tender covers the structural works, road works and the mechanical and electrical works for the tunnel, with exception to SCADA, network, ITS and CCTV, which is tendered in a separate contract. The mechanical and electrical systems between the Nordhavnsvej tunnel and the Nordhavnstunnel shall be integrated.

This tender also includes the construction of a new local road, Baltikavej West, a reconfiguration of the at-grade junction Strandvænget-Nordhavnsvej-Strandpromenaden, and the construction of an at-grade junction at Baltikavej-Kattegatvej-Oceanvej.

The Nordhavnstunnel is to be built as a cut-and-cover tunnel, which will require the temporary relocation of 600 boats residing in the Svanemøllehavnen harbour. This tender covers the temporary relocation of the 600 boats and temporary removal of the Svanemøllehavnen harbour.

After securing a DKK128 million contract in September 2005 from Landsverk, the road administration, Istak is building the Hov tunnel on Sudurö that will connect the towns of Oravik and Hov. The 2,450 m-long tunnel has an excavated width x height of 10 m x 7.5 m and a cross section of approx. 70 sq m according to Norwegian standard section T9.5. It is a single tube with two lanes of a total width of seven metres and a 1.5 m shoulder at each side. The project also includes new roads outside the tunnel of approx. 2.2 km.The method of excavation is drill and blast using an Atlas Copco Rocket Boomer L3C with three booms (year 2003). The supplier of explosives is Kemis of Iceland. The detonators are from Austin Detonator's facility in the Czech Republic. The explosives have been made by Minex of Poland. Support techniques are traditional fibre-reinforced shotcrete and rock bolts. Rock bolts are from Orsta in Norway. Istak is operating its own concrete batching plant. Danish Aalborg Portland rapid cement is used and sand from NorStone in Norway. Mucking and hauling is with a Volvo L180 payloader and 4 axled dump trucks. The tunnel will be excavated mostly from the Oravik site but approx. 400 m will be excavated from the Hov site. Tendering underway for $30 million Vestmannasund sub-sea road tunnel and adjacent road connections to establish a fixed link between two of the main Faeroe islands, Streymoy and Ví¡gar. Ví¡gatunnilin p/f, a limited, state owned enterprise, owns the concession to design, build and operate the tunnel based on toll revenues. Landsstyrid, the Faeroe Islands state authority, has guaranteed public investments to partly finance the project, which will be supplemented with private funding. The project comprises a 4.9 km long single drill/blast tunnel in basalt with rockbolt and sprayed concrete lining support. The lining will not be designed to handle full water pressure, and excess water will be drained. Lowest datum is 105 m below sea level and rock cover will vary between 30 and 50 m with a maximum water depth of 60 m. Construction starts mid-2000 on a 3 year duration. O. T.
