TBM Coline has now begun tunnelling for the Lyon Metro B extension. It has taken over two months to assemble this variable density TBM. The TBM type was chosen by Sytral due to the geological complexity along the chosen alignment. The TBM has now started boring the 2.4 km towards Oullins, which should take about 12 months.
The TBM, advancing at 10 m a day, will first reach the Hospitals in Saint-Genis-Laval, under Rue de Grand Revoyet,, then it will cross the Grande Rue d’Oullins, Anatole France Square, rue de la Republique reaching the existing tunnel at the Orsel shaft, behind the Gare d’Oullins station, where it will be disassembled.
