Stockholm Metro to Alvsjo - Planning for the Metro between Fridhmsplan and Alvsjo, via Liljeholmen, has begun this year after an agreement was reached between the Municipality of Stockholm and Region Stockholm to bring the start forward. The feasibility study was obtained on the 18/03/20 (Fut Procurement n. 15020, deadline 24/04/20). The project also included field investigations regarding soil and rock.  The project is planned for a start in June this year and result in a decision on the preferred alignment by the end of 2021.

Metro to Alvsjo construction will result in a new important link between Stockholm's Nothern and Southern suburbs that unburdens the Red line as well as the Central Metro station. The proposed line will have six stations: Fridhemsplan, Liljeholmen, Arstaberg, Arstafältet, Ostberga and Alvsjo.

Detailed design will be procured later in a separate project

Procurement of upcoming projects are planned to be ordered from consulting broker Workforce Logiq. To participate, a registration with them is required.





Focus on procurement in 2020

The expansion of the Stockholm metro is to continue as scheduled.

During the spring there will be a dispatch of request documents for large rock and civil engineering works, for example for Sofia (n.7715), Nacka (n.8716) and Hagastaden (n.3711) - but also the escalators for Nacka and Söderort and building services for Barkarby (n.4721).

A few changes took place regarding the dividing of the contracts for the Yellow line to Arenastaden.

The extensive contract for the qualification for the main tunnel for Arenastaden (n.3717) has now been sent out for  - replacing the rock and construction contracts n.3712, n. 3713 and n. 3716 for Södra Hagalund, Arenastaden and for the Access tunnel Arenastaden. 

For the whole of 2020 there will be a large number of rock and civil engineering works in progress. In addition to the aforementioned, the dispatch of request documents for the remaining projects Arenastaden, Sickla, Gullmarsplan and Hammarby canal are also planned.

The timetable has also been updated with a merging of the following contracts:

•BEST works contracts, including 400 V electricity, rail, power rail etc., in the Barkarby project with previous numbers 4742 and 4743. They are now 4743.

•For the Extended depot in Högdalen project, contract number 5726, design and installations, is now transferred to contract number 5713 that concerns the main tunnel and connecting tracks.

•Also, a few smaller contracts, 5721, 5722, 5723 and 5724 for Depot, have been merged into 5721 this procurement will start shortly

Several contracts have been awarded in recent weeks, including the one for the main tunnel in Barkarby (n.4713).

An update of the procurement timetable will also be available after Easter and 2020 will be a year with a great focus on procurement. Stockholm Metro  is planning a Supplier Day in the autumn of 2020  which, depending on the situation with the covid-19 pandemic, may be executed in an alternative way this time, perhaps as a webinar.
