The Purple Line Extension Transit Project in Los Angeles is adding two more
TBMs to its fleet. These TBMs will be part of section 2 and will join Elsie and
Soyeon which are currently digging the twin tunnels that will connect three new
stations between Koreatown and Beverly Hills. The two new TBMS are expected to
start work in the Winter of 2019 and continue the journey to the Westside,
digging from Century City to Beverly Hills.
Metro is inviting Los Angeles County students from
kindergarten through to 12th grade to participate in an art and naming contest
for the TBMs.
The contest is divided into two categories
• Students
from Kindergarten through 5th grade will compete to illustrate their ideal
community that includes the Purple Line Extension.
• Students
from 6th through 12th grade will compete to choose two names, one for each of
the TBMs
Submissions for the TBM Art and Naming contest will be
accepted from January 14 through March 15, 2019. Click here for tunnelbuilder
