On 23/01/2025 the KPIL and Gulermak joint venture  achieved a significant milestone for the Kanpur metro line 2, KNPCC-11 package. The TBM EPB Gomati which is 6.6m diameter and built by Herrenknecht has completed the first 622 m tunnel for the up-line after 100 days click here for the video.   

TBM Gomati is the first of two machines for constructing line-2’s 4.08 km underground Package KNPCC-11 between Agriculture Depot and Double Pullia Ramp, including the 3 underground stations at Rawatpur, Kakadeo and Double Pullia. Rawatpur is planned as an interchange station for Line-1 and Line 2, blending elevated and underground structures to ensure seamless future connectivity.

 TBM Gomati is the fifth TBM to be deployed for constructing underground twin tunnels of the 32.385 km Kanpur Metro Phase 1 project, including the 23.79 km metro Line-1 from IIT Kanpur to Naubasta with 8.62 km underground and the 8.38 km metro line-2 from Agriculture University to Barra 8, with 4.08 km underground.
