The VTA Board of Directors awarded to the Mott McDonald/PGH
Wong Engineering Joint Venture (MMW) the EUR109.03million (USD125 million)
General Engineering services contract for the VTA’s Phase II Project. The VTA’s
Phase II Project is a 9.66 km (6-mile) extension of the BART subway into
downtown San Jose and Santa Clara, utilizing an innovative single-bore tunnelling
methodology that minimizes construction disruptions. The project will include 4
stations - with three underground and one above - a 8.05 km (5-mile) subway
tunnel, two ventilation structures, and a maintenance facility. BART will be
responsible to operate and maintain the extension after its completion. Contact
