Award of Borders Railway supplementary ground investigation contract, value EUR240,000, to Soil Mechanics Ltd of Armadale EH48 2PY. The railway, which is in design using information from a principle ground investigation contract in 2007/2008, will be 47 km-long from Edinburgh to the central borders region, and will follow much of the former Waverley Railway alignment, including remaining bridges, tunnels and track bed. This new contract will provide a call-off service to bidders for the proposed DBFM contract requiring further specific ground investigation.
