The ministry of development has handed to the Palencia city a study on the penetration of the high speed train in Palencia. Three options are studied, one of which recommends to underground the railtracks on a distance of 900 metres between Huerta de Guadií¡n and the current central station. The project would cost €181 million. Local residents are lobbying for the longer option, a 3 km underground route that would cost €240 million. Visit www.mfom.es 06/02.
