This cavern is necessary for geological reasons at the junction between the access adit and the future tunnels. The TBMs will be assembled in the cavern to drive 8 km of tunnels uphill until the portals located on the Leí³n side. Time frame: 32 months. At the same time, from the cavern, 2 x 2.5 km of tunnel will be excavated by conventional means heading downhill. Finally, 40 m-long cut-and-cover tunnels will be built at the Leí³n portals.
