Wirth reaming TBM nearing breakthrough at Paracuellos after 2.8 km drive in which 7 m/day target was often exceeded with maximum advance 22.4 m/day recorded. Roof and sides shotcreted on advance using CIFA track-mounted snorkel mounted close to reamer head. Circular steel arches set 6 m behind face. Aliva wheeled shotcrete jumbo in invert. Large material +20 cm is screened at TBM and trucked away while smaller material is conveyed. Any rock needed for backfilling invert is ploughed of the belt and the remainder is used for embankments or dumped. Concreting underway with gantry erecting welded PVC membrane ahead of concrete forms achieving 170 m/week. For the record, the pilot drive by Murer used their Wirth 4.7 m TBM at 40 m/day in the pre-Cambrian rocks with black schist and graphite covered by quartzite and some sandstone.
