Water Treatment

Prequalification notice, deadline 15th October, 2003 for the expansion and upgrading of the Svartediket water treatment plant, 2 km southwest of Bergen city centre. Includes a new treatment plant cavern in rock (length 83 m x width 21 m x height 16 m), a new deep water intake (length 120 m x width 4 m x height 4 m), a new clean water basin in rock (length 138 m x width 18 m x height 7 m), and approximately 2.5 km of tunnel. The main tunnel will be 1.3 km-long, cross section 4.3 x 5.5 m. Other cross section will be 21 x 16 m. Planning and engineering by Asplan Viak and GeoBergen. Tunnel design by Smidt & Ingebrigtsen. Construction to start in April 2004 for completion in October 2006. Financing by the City of Bergen.
