Selmer Skanska and Veidekke have won from Statoil a NOK200 million contract to build a 2.3 km undersea road tunnel between Hammerfest and Melkí¸ya as part of the Sní¸hvit offshore gas project development in the Barents Sea in Finnmark County. Visit www.selmer.skanska.no 07/02.Norwegian oil company Statoil reported the breakthrough on 18th February by AF VS Gruppen, a JV of Veidekke and Selmer Skanska, of a 2.3 km undersea tunnel between Hammerfest and Melkí¸ya in the Barents Sea, a tunnel necessary for the Sní¸hvit offshore gas deposit development project in Finnmark county. To bore this 8.5 m-wide tunnel, the contractors utilised the drill/blast method using two Atlas Copco drill rigs from two drives. Mucking-out was made by dumpers.
