Alignment requires 13 tunnels, all 75m2 cross-section. 3,394 m-long Daini-Shibisan is under construction by Kajima/Konoika using 4 m Swellex bolts in heavily waterbearing and fractured sandstones, shales and clays. Shioyama at 10 km will be the longest land railway tunnel in Japan. 5,242 m Tagami tunnel under construction by Taisei Corporation in jv with Toc and Chizaki will be second longest and is first recorded use of a Nordberg Lokotrack as a mobile face crusher in a tunnel.
