TELT awarded to the Joint Venture Salini Impregilo, Vinci Constructions France TP, CSC Entreprise de Constructions and Dodin Campenon Bernard the EUR40 million contract, excluding VAT, for the construction of 23 interchange niches , 30 to 40-m-long and 3-m-deep areas, at Chiomonte for the new Lyon-Turin rail link. The niches will be excavated using the traditional method over a period of 19 months. Today, the construction site variant foresees that the excavation of the base tunnel will start from Chiomonte instead of Susa and therefore it is necessary to adapt the tunnel in order to allow construction vehicles to pass through.
