Completion of 20 km section of national road 38 between Grosio and Bormio, with 15.5 km of tunnels including Bolladora Valmaggiore (2.7 km), Mondadizza (1.5 km), Le Prese (983 m), Verzedo (2.36 km) and Sant'Antonio Cepina (7.925 km). The latter is now the longest tunnel on Italian National Roads. The new dello Stelvio road was built to replace the road destroyed in a giant landslide in July, 1987 and itself has been plagued with difficult hydrogeology.
