The consortium Webuild (leader), SELI Overseas (Webuild Group), Ghella and TunnelPro (Ghella Group) secured the EUR 1.2 bn contract to develop Lot 4A between the stations of Caltanissetta Xirbi and Nuova Enna as part of the development of a high-capacity railway along the Palermo-Catania axis in Sicily, Italy. Commissioned by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) of Gruppo FS Italiane and financed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR in Italian), the contract involves the executive design and construction of a 27 km new rail line next to the existing one, with 20 km of tunnels - 90% of which excavated by TBMs -, 3 km of viaducts and the upgrading of Caltanissetta Xirbi station
