Read E-News Weekly 15/2005. 45/05.Strabag (34%), Hochtief (33%) and Max Boegl & Josef Krysl (33 %) will build section 514 (6.4 km) of the ring motorway between Lahovice and Slivenec in the southern part of Prague. The contract is worth EUR313 million and is shared in equal parts between the partners with Hochtief‘s share amounting to more than EUR100 million. The construction of the motorway is financed by the Czech government, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and EU funds.Section 514 includes a 2 x 1,630 m-long tunnel, whereof 2 x 1,295 m mined. The uphill tube will carry three traffic lanes and its driven section will be 120 sq m. The downhill tube will accommodate two traffic lines and its driven section will be 96 sq m. The geology is formed by Devonian sedimentary slate and quartzite. The planned method of excavation is drilling and blasting as per NATM. The expected date for tunnelling start is September 2006. The new motorway section is planned to be opened for traffic in late 2009. The project is between Vestec and Lahovice, south of the city, and includes a 2 km twin-tube tunnel. Work will commence in the spring of 2006 and will be completed in 2009. The project is for a dual carriageway with two 3.5 m-wide lanes per direction. MYPRA starts by a short section of cut-and cover-tunnels, then a 552 m-long section of mined tunnels. At the end, the two tubes join to form a 308 m long cut-and-cover section. The space above the tunnels contains a double-storey underground car park with 486 spaces. PRAS consists of 660 m long cut-and-cover tunnels. SPELC is a 647 m cut-and-cover structure, a 2,221 m-long mined section, a 580 m-long cut-and-cover section and a 882 m-long at-grade section. The mined tunnels begin in Letna with three lanes and after 378 metres and 497 metres (in the southern and northern tube respectively), the profile changes to a double-lane design. The two tubes will be bored 18 metres apart. The cut-and-cover tunnels will accommodate two and three 3.5 m-wide lanes. Visit www.geotechnika.cz 49/06.OHL's Czech unit OHL ZS won a EUR53.34 million contract to build the 6.38 km Spejchar-Pelc-Tyrolka (SPELC) section of the city inner circle road in northwest Prague (lot 0079), whereof 5.5 kilometres of mostly bored tunnels and some cut-and-cover construction. The contract is part of the Blanka tunnel complex. It also includes construction of a complex of adjoining underground buildings and technological facilities under dwellings in Letna to supply ventilation to most of the tunnels, which will run under Kralovska obora-Stromovka natural park, and underground car parks for 863 vehicles. When completed, the tunnel will connect to the southwest section of the inner ring road to form a 17 km continuous underground section, the longest road tunnel of the Czech Republic.
