The Melbourne Metro Rail Authority (MMRA) is inviting expressions of interest (EOI), with a deadline of the 09.06.2016, for the $6 billion Tunnel and Stations Public Private Partnership (PPP). The PPP will deliver the largest package of works on Australia’s biggest public transport project, including two 9 km rail tunnels. These tunnels will run through the heart of Melbourne and there will be three new underground stations at Arden, Parkville and Domain, and two new city stations directly connected to Flinders Street and Melbourne Central. The new Metro Tunnel will give the Cranbourne, Pakenham and Sunbury lines their own tunnel through the CBD, which will free up space in the Loop to run more trains in and out of the City. Early works begin next year, with the major construction delivered through this package to start in 2018, and the project set to create 3,700 jobs.
