The three consortia Baulderstone Bouygues North West Rail JV, Rapidlink JV (Obayashi, McConnell Dowell, Laing O’Rourke Australia) and JV Thiess John Holland Dragados JV were short-listed to tender for the contract to build the twin 15.5 km-long tunnels between Sydney suburbs Bella Vista and Epping. The contract, which was tendered last month, should be awarded in the second half of 2013. These tunnels will be the deepest and longest rail tunnels ever built in Australia.
