Chicago Infrastructure Trust (CIT) awarded the Boring Company the contract to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Chicago Express Loop, an O’Hare Express service between O’Hare International Airport (Terminals 1-3) and Block 37 in downtown Chicago. In March, the city had announced that it had shortlisted the Boring Company and O’Hare Xpress LLC (Meridiam, Antarctica Capital, JLC Infrastructure, Mott MacDonald and First Transit). The joint venture of Salini Impregilo and Lane Construction Corporation (Salini Impregilo Group), wholly owned subsidiary of S.A. Healy Company, won the EUR176.27 million (USD188 million) design-bid-build contract for the construction of the Three Rivers Protection & Overflow Reduction Tunnel (3RPORT). The 3RPORT is a combined sewer overflow (CSO) tunnel project located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. It includes a deep rock tunnel (5.18 m in diamter), drop shafts and consolidation sewers to collect and convey CSO from eight locations along the St. Mary and Maumee Rivers. Once completed, the CSO tunnel system will reduce 90% of combined sewage overflows into the rivers, which occur during large rain storms. The CBBT (Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel) commission selected a team led by Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc and including major partners COWI and HNTB to serve as the Design Manager for the Parallel Thimble Shoal Tunnel Project that is currently under development. The Project will add a two-lane tunnel under the Thimble Shoal Channel, parallel to one of two existing immersed tunnels between the Delmarva Peninsula and the Hampton Roads area at Virginia Beach.

On 05.11.2014 CBBT will host at Hotel Virginia Beach Oceanfront a project showcase for the Parallel Thimble Shoal Tunnel. The CBBT Commission awarded the Dragados Team, a joint venture composed of Dragados USA Inc. and Schiavone Construction Company LLC, with a EUR673.75 million contract ($755,98 million) for a new tunnel to move traffic from Virginia Beach to the Eastern Shore. The new tunnel will run parallel tunnel alongside the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel at the Thimble Shoal Channel. The project will begin in October 2017 and is expected to take five years to complete. When it’s finished, the new tunnel will carry two lanes of southbound traffic and the existing tunnel will carry two lanes of northbound traffic
