&AustriaVienna - at/12Metro Line 2Siemens Mobility will supply a EUR25 million automatic train control system for the Vienna underground. This fourth phase of the extension project will extend line U1 by 6 km to the south, and line U2 by 4 km to the east. Siemens will install its computer-aided signalling element control system with the LZB513 continuous automatic train control system and the Vicos OC111 operations control system. Work starts in 2010 for completion in 2015. The existing 70 km Vienna metro system has five lines and 85 stations, and carries nearly 500 million passengers a year. STRABAG has been awarded line U1 extension contracts U1/9 Altes Landgut and U1/10 Troststrasse, value around EUR90 million. Underground line U1 is being extended from Reumannplatz station to Oberlaa to provide a direct link between the densely populated areas of the Per-Albin-Hansson-Siedlung housing estate and the city centre. Construction time is 47 months for U1/10 and 54 months for U1/9, commencing April, 2012 for completion May, 2016.
