ERGOSE, a subsidiary of the Hellenic Railways, on 13th September announced that a joint venture between Aktor and Pantechniki was selected as provisional winner of a tender to build a bridge and two railway tunnels, on the Athens-Patra high speed line, worth EUR100.5 million. The two tunnels will be built in Platanos (2,293 m in length) and Trapeza (2,748 m) on the Kiato-Aegio section in west Peloponnese. The tunnels have been designed to accommodate a double-track standard gauge railway line, with a cross section of approximately 100 sq m. Each tunnel will have two escape tunnels, whose overall length will be approximately 1,000 m. The project will be financed by the EU's second Cohesion Fund (50%) and on the national budget (50%).
