The 10,303 m-long Xiushan railway tunnel on the 141 km-long Yuxi-Mengzi line of the Pan-Asia Railway eastern line was completed on 10.01.2012, after six years’ work. Located in a seismically active area in Tonghai County, Yunnan Province, the tunnel encountered complex geological conditions, frequent changes of surrounding rocks, and water and mud bursts. Total investment for the line is EUR551.26 million. The railway is expected to become operational later this year.
