On 13.05.2016 the final breakthrough occurred in the Valico di Fossato tunnel on the SS76 Val d’Esino, Fossato di Vico-Cancelli section. This tunnel is part of the Quadrilatero Marche-Umbria project. The 2860 m tunnel runs along  the regional border of Marche and Umbria. It is one of the longer tunnels of the project it is shorter than the Gola della Rossa tunnel by 3.76 km which was completed last May 2015.
