Updates from Moscow Metro Line construction

Troitskaya metro line  - The construction of the right running tunnel between the Mamyri and Bachurinskaya stations on the Troitskaya metro line has been completed. The TBM has finally reached the dismantling chamber near the Bachurinskaya station.

The 6 m diameter TBM Eugenia has driven more than 2.5 km in soils composed of light clays and heavy loams at a depth of 13 to 28 m. The single-track tunnel was driven through the Novomoskovsky district along the Kaluga highway from the village Mamyri to the village of Kommunarka.

Previously, TBM Eugenia was involved in the construction of tunnels in the southwestern section of the Big Metro Ring, which was opened to passengers in December last year. The construction of the left tunnel from Mamyrey to Bachurinskaya is being carried out by the TBM Darya.

The Troitskaya metro line will run from the Moscow Central Ring (MCC) to the urban district of Troitsk , its length will exceed 40 km. It is expected that about 100 thousand people will use the branch daily. More than 1 million people live within the zone of the new line, and several hundred thousand more work or study in the area.

Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya Line

In the second half of January the TBM Rosa started the construction of the 1km left running tunnel between the Pykhtino and the Vnukovo stations for the new section of the Kalininsko-Solntsevskaya Line/Yellow Line.

Earlier, this TBM had completed the tunnelling towards the operating Rasskazovka station. It was then dismantled over several weeks at the site behind the Rasskazovka headshunts, and relocated to a new site on the bank of the Likova river opposite to the Pykhtino station, and reinstalled in the entry pit.

On the way from the city centre to the airport, trains which depart from the Pykhtino station will cross the river over the new metro bridge, before going into the underground tunnel towards Vnukovo. In-situ concreting is now underway at the Pykhtino and Vnukovo stations. The landmark structures are 64% and 28% complete, respectively. The entire new section of the line is nearly one-third complete.

The TBM called Rosa will tunnel its way at a depth of 10 to 16 m in clay soil with stiff loam along the existing car tunnel under the roadway of Tsentral’naya Street of Vnukovo and the bridge structures of the flyover to the airport terminal complex. Vnukovo will become the first Russian airport with its own metro station.

This TBM was previously used in the construction of 4.3km tunnels of the southern section of the Big Circle Line between the Novatorskaya and the Kakhovskaya stations.
