Frontier-Kemper Constructors, an Indiana-based construction company and subsidiary of Tutor Perini, has been awarded a $1.1 billion contract by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection for the Kensico-Eastview Connection Tunnel Project.
The project involves constructing a new deep rock tunnel that will connect the Kensico Reservoir with the Catskill/Delaware Ultraviolet (CDUV) Light Disinfection Facility in Westchester County, New York.
According to Tutor Perini, this tunnel will improve the resiliency and redundancy of New York City's water supply by adding an additional route for water conveyance between these key facilities.
Work is expected to commence shortly, with a projected completion date in 2030.
