Overnight a TBM made by Herrenknecht (mod.Avnd2000Ab)
started its journey by road toward Melendugno (Le) a tunnelling site in Puglia, Italy. It will be used to drill the Trans
Adriatic Pipeline’s (TAP) tunnel, TAP will transport natural gas from the giant Shah
Deniz II field in Azerbaijan to Europe.
TAP will be 878 km in length (Greece 550 km; Albania 215 km;
Adriatic Sea 105 km; Italy 8 km). Its highest point will be approximately 2,100
m in Albania’s mountains, while its lowest will be 820 m beneath the sea.
The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) started near Kipoi on the
border of Turkey and Greece, where it connects with the Trans Anatolian
Pipeline (TANAP). Construction of the TAP pipeline started in 2016 with the
overall TAP gas-transport system set to be ready for commissioning in July
