On the 13/12/2020, the 15.4km Ceneri Base Tunnel, between Camorino and Vezia started operating marking the completion of the New Railway Link through the Alps (NRLA)  after 28 years of construction. Passengers were greeted by pre-recorded announcements by Swiss President Simonetta Sommaruga.
