The TBM Alice has been dismantled and delivered to the Ports of Auckland for shipment back to its manufacturer to be recycled. The TBM has successfully built two 2.4km underground tunnels which were 14.4 m in diameter, on the Waterview Connection project. Alice was specifically built for the Waterview Connection tunnels and is not suitable for other tunnel projects in New Zealand such as the City Rail Link or an additional Waitemata Harbour crossing.
