The detailed design of the Castelbello and Colsano ring road has been approved for the SS 38 in Stelvio. The tender is about the construction phase and will be reviewed in 2017, the value will be more than EUR82 million. The ring road will include a 2.5 km tunnel with 4 bypass and  4 SOS areas.

From the preliminary design to the detailed design several geological studies have shown that extra precaution is needed as the Eastern adit area is prone to landslides one occurred in February 2014.
