On the 23rd of January 2019 a second TBM broke through in to what will be the future Gelsomini station. This is one of the TBMs driving tunnels in the West section from San Cristoforo to Solari station for the M4 line in Milan, Italy it will now stop for two weeks for maintenance.
The first TBM, arrived in Gelsomini in mid-December 2018 after having placed 712 rings and dug 996 meters of tunnel. The two TBMs, used on the West section, to date have driven more than 2150 m of tunnels, reaching a maximum of 61 m per day.
