On 19.06.2012 10 m-diameter Herrenknecht TBM Charlotte broke through the 4 km-long east-west tube of Saverne tunnel, after seven months of work, during which average advance was 20 m/day. The 110 m-long, 2,200 t machine installed 15,456 segments for a total of 1,932 rings. The JV Dodin Campenon Bernard (Chevilly Larue) was awarded the EUR184.3 million contract, VAT excluded, for the design, engineering and construction of the 7.2 km-long Lot 47 of the Paris-Strasbourg high speed line which includes the Saverne tunnel.
